Performer Age Range: 16+ (actors portraying older teenagers)

CB - Male-presenting. Intelligent, introspective, and deeply depressed following the death of his dog. CB is questioning his sexuality, faith, and social standing as he unexpectedly falls for Beethoven, forcing him to confront truths he’s long avoided.

Beethoven - Male-presenting. Quiet, lonely, bullied, and reclusive. An outcast who finds solace in playing the piano, Beethoven has accepted his marginal status...until his romantic relationship with CB thrusts him into unwanted attention and violent homophobic bullying.

CB’s Sister - Female-presenting. Loud, strong-willed, and in the middle of a constant identity crisis. She cycles through extreme personas and belief systems while struggling with unrequited love for Beethoven and the emotional fallout of his relationship with her brother.

Van - Male-presenting. A stoner philosopher. Once thoughtful and intellectual, Van now numbs himself with marijuana, remaining emotionally detached from the chaos around him. Often appears unaffected, even as serious events unfold. Constantly pursuing CB's Sister.

Matt - Male-presenting. CB’s best friend and the school’s dominant alpha male. A jock, compulsive germaphobe, and vicious/violent bully whose misogyny, homophobia, and rage intensify as CB grows closer to Beethoven, threatening Matt’s sense of control.

Tricia - Female-presenting. Loud, rude, and image-obsessed. A self-proclaimed party girl who believes she is popular and desirable, Tricia’s desperation to be seen as “pretty” and important becomes increasingly transparent.

Marcy - Female-presenting. Tricia’s devoted sidekick. Once intellectual, now willfully shallow, prioritizing boys and parties over substance. After being rejected by CB, she redirects her attention to Matt, ultimately remaining stuck in Tricia’s shadow.

Van’s Sister - Female-presenting. Sharp, sarcastic, and brutally honest. Institutionalized after a violent incident, she appears in the play as CB’s moral confidante, challenging his passivity and guiding him toward difficult self-awareness.
